I Was Born Remembering

From my earliest memories in this lifetime I’ve remembered that we, the humans on this planet Earth, are fully capable of loving unconditionally, of living harmoniously in every moment, and of celebrating our differences and variations. I’m now on the young side of my elder years and I still remember this.

Indeed, I’ve wondered at times if this was a fantasy, a wished for reality that had never been real and never would be. I’ve hoped beyond all evidence at times that this is really who we are. I’ve been filled with awe at other times when this fullness of humanity suddenly appeared in living, breathing form.

Through all the highs and lows of carrying this memory, the memory has never changed, never morphed, never been anything other than what it is… a steady knowing of the fullness of our beauty.

I’m not the only one who remembers this, most of us do. I’m not the only one who’s struggled with this memory, most of us have. So why speak of something that is so real and so tangible that every human heart knows its truth even in the face of overwhelming evidence that living this version of us is always a little beyond our reach?

I speak of this because so many of us have come to accept the idea that this fullness of beauty is the reality of our Saviors, Gods, Goddesses, Gurus, Prophets, Saints, Angels, Heroes, or other Beings of Perfection, but not of our ordinary selves.

I call each and every one of us to remember that we’re inspired by teachings, stories, and memories of these Extraordinary Ones because we are like them. They are our foundation, the place where we begin. These Beings have not walked among us to remind us we’re less than them. They’ve walked among us to remind us that we’re the same as them.

I ask that each of us stop aspiring to become like our Saviors, Gods, Goddesses, Gurus, Prophets, Saints, Angels, Heroes, or other Beings of Perfection. Let’s relieve them of the responsibility of being the only ones who can live the fullness of unconditional love and harmony. How about we give them the grace and inspiration they’ve given us? What reality could we all, they and us, be living then?
